Siamese cat: reviews. “Siam is a dog in cat's skin”
Siamese cat. It would seem who is not familiar with this breed? Blue eyes, dark marks on the face and paws, tail with creases, vile character. Stop stop stop! What is such a tail with creases and a vile character ?!
Siamese cats: what are they?
The first thing to do when talking about the Siamese cat breed is to understand the terminology. Somehow it turned out that in the territory of the former USSR any cat of a color-point color is called a Siamese, and any person will be happy to tell you a couple of stories in the spirit of the "black hand and red carpet" about terrible aggressive creatures. But, as often happens, actually everything is much more interesting.
To begin with, the familiar “Siamese” color, it is also a color point, it is also “a light body and painted areas on the paws / tail / muzzle” is absolutely not a fundamental sign of the breed and exists in different breeds of cats. And not only cats - even rats have this color. So the image that most people imagine hearing “Siamese cat” is, at best, a Thai breed cat.
So what is he, a modern Siamese?
Siamese cat - no matter how it sounds, the very "personification of the East." He is thin, a call, elegant, desperately talkative and needs company. The tailroom, by the way, is a desperate vice, and it should not be. It is clear that we will talk a little bit about the "spherical Siamese in a vacuum," because each specific animal has its own characteristics, but I’ll try to talk about the "average version".
Siamese are dogs that were accidentally given birth in a cat's skin. Feline independence? No, not heard. Adequate, impudent, quick-witted (especially where it is not necessary), with inspiration the owners are trained without any problems. Attention is loved and appreciated, the soul of the company is about them. But this is also a problem: if you want exactly the “classic cat”, which pleases the eye unobtrusively, it is better not to start a Siamese.
Siamese cats are active. No, not so - ACTIVE. Games, communication, racing, climbing and other "dvizhuha". It is advisable in the company, and who exactly will make up the company - you, other cats or other types of animals in general, is not particularly important. The main thing is to be fun and mobile.
The following points follow from here: it is optimal to keep the Siamese with a "flock", the main thing is to stop on time (I want to say it!). These cats get along well with dogs and, perhaps, this is one of the rare breeds that are good to start with children. Just remember their kindness and do not give offense, they themselves sometimes allow themselves to be superfluous.
Siamese cats are emotional. Actively participate in family life, nothing can be done without them. A side effect is terrible talkativeness. Siam is not just everywhere and will do everything with you, he will also comment on everything that is happening. And yes, this is not the cat that will disappear under the sofa when guests see it - they are happy to visit the guests and spend time at their pleasure.
Siamese cat care
Siamese cats are thermophilic. Nature deprived them of undercoat, and “three hairs in two rows” does not give much heat. In the content, this results either in sweaters and other warming, if the animal lives in the cold, or in a contented cat’s mug in the warm corners of the house.
On the other hand, this allows you to be a little too lazy in matters of care - "polished with a cloth and order." Siamese cats do not require active combing / washing, however, if you are a fan of a dark wardrobe - think again whether you need a Siamese. Thin short light hairs miraculously stick tightly into clothes and furniture.
Most often, Siamese cats have a positive attitude to the idea of water and bathing, they are very worried about the bathing owners. In the tray, they tend to arrange small archaeological excavations, so it is better to immediately purchase a toilet house - so as not to list out all the relatives of the cat aloud, removing the scattered filler.
Feeding siamese cats
Siamese cats are omnivores. They eat everything that is badly nailed. What is nailed well is first torn off, then eaten. And this is never a plus, and it’s never good, taking into account the same stupid mentality, “the animal will not eat what is harmful to it”. Even as it becomes! Therefore, the owner’s task is to watch and control, watch and control, and the guests, the cat quietly poking pieces, “atata” speak in a timely manner.
How to choose a Siamese kitten?
The choice of a kitten is a separate story and, in general, universal for all breeds.
- Without paper, you are a mutt (s)
Only the presence of the pedigree ensures that you get a kitten of a certain breed.
“We found it in the garbage dump, but it is definitely thoroughbred!”, “The veterinarian told us that it was a Mountain Tibetan breed”, “we looked in the encyclopedia, it looks like Ivanoskiy Shorthair” - let's leave the tales to those who want to believe in them. And now we are talking about really thoroughbred animals.
The pedigree is not a magical piece of paper that increases the cost of an animal by three times; it is a banal “list of ancestors”. And in itself, it costs sooo cheap.
Different clubs have different rules, but the approximate “package of documents” when purchasing a kitten is a veterinary certificate and pedigree (or a kitten’s card, which is later changed to a pedigree). Some breeders also conclude a sales contract in which additional conditions, such as sterilization, may be prescribed.
- Only the breeder’s right choice guarantees that you will grow up “This is something!” And not “oh, what is this ?!” (from)
Do not chase cheapness and do not be afraid of serious nurseries / breeders. A truly high-quality animal cannot be cheap, but this is no reason to throw money out for Ivanovo Pomoynaya by applying for the first counter announcement promising a canary for a penny. At the same time, in good nurseries it is often possible to purchase an animal for a reasonable price.
The easiest option is to visit the exhibition, make an impression of “what I want”, take contacts from the breeder and meet with him a couple of weeks after the exhibition.
- Take the kitten out of the house.
No "I’ll give you a ride to the subway" or "home delivery." In the conditions familiar to the kitten, look at his behavior, well-being, interaction with other inhabitants of the house, and at this time calmly and thoughtfully ask the breeder questions that interest you. The two main ones are: what kind of food is accustomed to (if dry food - what brand) and what kind of filler in the tray.
The kitten should have a smooth, shiny coat, clean eyes and ears, should be active and playful, while it may look slightly thinner - this is the specificity of the pedigree physique.
At a good breeder, the animals are clean, well-groomed, react to you with curiosity, and the breeder himself will be happy to talk about them.
- Kittens can move to new homes no earlier than 3 months!
These are the requirements of clubs and the guarantee of a civilized breeding. By this age, they have been given the necessary vaccinations, and they themselves are ready for an independent adult life.
Preparing for the appearance of the Siamese kitten
For the arrival of a new tenant, you need to prepare a minimum "gentleman's set":
- Restroom. As practice shows, in cleaning one of the most convenient options - toilets, houses.
- Bowls for food and water.
- Filler. Choose the one to which the kitten is accustomed to in the "father's house". Then you can change, but you need to start with the usual.
- Feed. Again the same as the breeder fed.
- Ravenclaw. Start with the simplest “board” (screwed onto the wall) or “column” (on the stand), later you will see your pet’s preferences and correlate them with the design in the house.
- Toys Start with just two or three and remember that not all cats can be left alone.
